About Thornz Landscapes

Sam Thorn has been working in landscaping all of his life. His Father and Uncle both owned landscaping companies and Sam had plenty of opportunities to learn as he was growing up. Over time Sam found himself doing more and more groundworks, foundations, driveways and hard landscaping. His clients appreciated being able to work with one person from the start to finish of the project.

Thornz Landscapes Ltd is a North Canterbury-based company specialising in lawns driveways and foundations, and all other excavation services including earthworks, demolition, drilling, retaining walls, land clearing and rural maintenance.

We offer specialist equipment and attachments to effectively complete your projects.

All The Gear For Your Job

Our Bobcat T630 skid steer loader is a rubber track machine with very low ground pressure (around 4.5 psi) which is great for wet, soft or sandy conditions as well as steep slopes.

We also have the following Bobcat attachments:

  • Sharp Grade
  • Power rake
  • Grader
  • Bucket and rippers
  • Pallet forks
  • Leveling frame
  • Log grapple
  • Concrete hopper

Our JCB Z48 compact excavator is a 5 ton zero swing machine on rubber tracks. This is great for getting into tight spaces and doing foundation excavation works. This machine is also fitted with a tilt bucket and thumb for handling/stacking rocks, green waste, logs or whatever is in our way.

For the larger excavations and site works we have a JCB JS130 conventional excavator 13 ton. This helps bulk out our larger jobs and gives a fast efficient solution to moving bulk materials on site.

Our many trucks from 5-ton payload 4 wheeler, 9.5 ton payload 4 wheeler, 11-ton payload 6 wheeler and 11 ton tip trailer help us to be efficient in the moving of materials from tight access sites to larger earth moving projects.

"Sam came to our property and came up with great ideas that gave us cost-saving methods that saved us time and money which meant we got more than we had expected for our budget and a better-finished product, I advise talking to Sam as early in the project as possible."
